Introduction and history of the koto A brief explanation of the history and culture of the Japanese koto (koto). We will also touch on the differences between the types and schools of koto to get an overall picture.
Explanation of tools Learn the structure of the koto and the names and characteristics of each part. Through knowledge of the tools, you will gain a deeper understanding of how to play it.
Correct posture and holding method We will carefully teach you the correct way to sit and use your body when playing, how to hold the koto, and how to attach the nails.
Basic playing method Practice the basic movements of the right and left hands, how to use the plectrum, and how to pluck the strings. Even beginners will be able to play music immediately.
Experience playing a song We will play seasonal pieces that reflect the four seasons of Japan, and provide you with a time to feel the spirit of koto music through the fusion with the tea ceremony. By playing the koto calmly and touching on the ideas of Zen, you will develop mental stability and concentration.
