Welcome Orientation Learn about Kyoto’s history, the tradition of Japanese cuisine, and the origins of Kazarimaki Sushi. We’ll also share examples of various designs for inspiration.
Basics of Kazarimaki Sushi Understand the essential ingredients and tools, such as sushi rice, seaweed, and bamboo mats. Learn how to prepare sushi rice, choose colors and shapes, and embrace the Japanese philosophy of "cooking with all five senses."
Hands-On: Making Kazarimaki Sushi Create designs that align with a chosen theme (e.g., cherry blossoms, animal patterns). Learn techniques for combining ingredients, rolling sushi, and crafting beautiful patterns.
Hands-On: Making Miso Soup Prepare a traditional Japanese miso soup that complements your sushi creation.
Tasting Time Enjoy tasting the sushi rolls you made! Reflect on the experience with a commemorative photo session.
Kimono is not included. You are free to take pictures during the lesson. Please refrain from videotaping during the instructor's demonstration. Please wear socks or bring your own. If you come barefoot, socks can be purchased for an additional fee. During the busy seasons of New Year's holidays, spring break, summer break, and fall, we will change to the busy season fee. Please understand this beforehand. Class time is approximately 90 minutes.
